I am working on BeagleBone Black and Debian running on it. This is my full-size, 16 motion axis, programmable animatronic C-3PO protocol droid character. These modules can behave as a slave or master, which are used to listen to connection requests and others to generate connection requests. There are lots of references online for that. The Blue is a BeagleBone adaptation geared towards robotics. When we first tried one about a year ago there was a very large increase (over +20 dB) in spurs and noise from the BeagleBone compared to using the original BeagleBone Black manufactured by CircuitCo or the BeagleBone Green. BBG versions are better suited to embedded applications than Beaglebone Black, but the BBG or BBGW can still be used as a standalone Linux computer. Beaglebone Black has only one usb port which can be used to connect a good quality webcam for image processing practice. It is placed into the u boot folder upon build. The Blue lost some GPIO pins and doesn't have an HDMI port like other BeagleBones. (The Rpi has better graphics than the BeagleBone. Expected retail price is $80.
